An award-winning journalist and writer, Tibby Rothman has simultaneously pursued the parallel storytelling practice of photography with work influenced by the photojournalists of the late 1970s and early 80s.
Rothman’s B&W images, shot on film for “A Day in the Life of Brooks + Scarpa,” were touted by Taschen in 1000 Favorite Websites. Her portraits appeared in the L.A. Weekly in conjunction with her stories on artists and skateboarders, as well as VenicePaper, which she founded and edited from 2001-2008.
Her piece “You Ruined Venice, But I’m Not Leaving” garnered 50,000 unique visits for the Weekly—and a lot of comments from locals.
