Around/About is the first iteration of what we hope will be many more shows in this space. Berkeley Espresso has become something of a studio for us, a place where we gather to create. What makes it truly special is its communal essence, seeing familiar faces and feeling a sense of connection that you simply can't find at home or in a private studio.
Barry Cowan is a multimedia artist based in Berkeley, CA. You can catch him at Berkeley Espresso in the evenings making his circular multimedia drawings. Barry is a community person and loves bringing different kinds of people together.
“I was able to draw from a very young age, but I never had much ability to paint with brushes. As I failed as a painter, I still wanted vibrant color in the things I made, so I ended up developing a cut paper technique to achieve that.”
